This is where the typical photographer talks about how they are "passionate" about photography  and have been in love with image making since they first held a camera. But if everyone says that, it's not really telling you anything about them, is it?

Where I'm from

I'm originally from Quitman, Mississippi, but I've lived throughout the state. I've also lived in Florida, Rhode Island (and back to Mississippi) while I was in the U.S. Navy.

I've called Hattiesburg home since late 2003.

what got me into photography

I know I just said I wasn't going to do this, but I've been in love with photography since I got my first camera at around the age of 7 or 8. I didn't get serious about it for many, many years later, though, largely because film was expensive. That's the great thing about digital photography; it has made learning photography much less expensive.

you may have seen my work

Even if you've never been to this site before, you may have seen my photos and just didn't know it. I freelance for the Hattiesburg American and some of my photos have been used by U.S. News & World Report.

why i love photography

Simply put, photography is making memories. People think they will remember moments forever, but the truth is they won't. We have imperfect memories. We never know what little event in the present will become a special moment when we look back, so we should take every opportunity to preserve the moments of our lives. (Does that sound too much like a Hallmark ad?)

Back when there was a Kodak corporation, they sponsored some attractions as Walt Disney World, and one of them had a song, titled Making Memories, that perfectly expresses how I feel:

Making memories, making memories.
Taking pictures is making memories.
Catching little pieces of times
Making them yours, making them mine.
Great vacations and celebrations
Can fade away in a year.
'Cause when we're making memories,
Happy days are always here.
